IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL therapy is a non-invasive treatment used to manage Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), a common cause of evaporative dry eye disease. MGD occurs when the oil-producing glands in your eyelids get blocked, reducing the oily layer of your tear film and causing your tears to evaporate too quickly.
How IPL Helps:
- Heats and unblocks the meibomian glands
- Reduces inflammation around the eyes
- Destroys abnormal blood vessels that contribute to inflammation
- Improves tear film stability
What to Expect:
- Usually done as a series (e.g., 3–4 sessions spaced a few weeks apart)
- A gel is applied, and light pulses are delivered around the eyelid and cheek area
- Most patients report reduced symptoms and better comfort over time
Forma- I
Forma-I is a non-invasive radiofrequency device that gently heats the eyelids to, melt blockages in the meibomian glands, stimulate oil flow into the tear film, and improve eyelid elasticity and reduce inflammation
How Forma-i Helps:
- Improves tear film stability
- Reduces dryness, irritation, burning
- Enhances comfort from contact lenses or screen use
- Non-invasive alternative to surgery
What to Expect:
- Takes about 15–30 minutes
- No needles or downtime
- Feels like a warm massage around the eyes
- May require multiple sessions (often 4, spaced weekly)
- Can be followed by manual expression of glands
