Interested in contacts?

Many people love the look and feel of contact lenses. They offer a full field of vision, do not fog up in cool or humid weather, and are not likely to get sat on accidentally. If this sounds like you, then contacts might be the right vision correction option for you. The first step is booking a contact lens fitting to get started.

Why is a contact lens fitting additional to a comprehensive exam?

Contact lenses are viewed as elective by insurance companies and therefore are not covered under a comprehensive annual eye exam. When you come in for an eye exam, we don’t automatically perform a contact lens fitting. This is because there are many different tests we need to do for contact wearers compared to those who don’t need or use contacts. So, if you’re coming in for an exam and you’re interested in contacts, select yes on our consent forms we give you at the time of your visit and we’ll help you determine if contacts are right for you.

If you already wear contacts, it’s required to have a contact lens fitting every year to renew your prescription. A contact lens exam includes a set of diagnostic, or trial lenses that you can try our for a few days before committing to purchasing contacts. The fitting also covers 3 additional follow-up appointments.

During a contact lens fitting appointment, we help you choose a suitable type and brand of contacts, take measurements and perform extra tests, and mandatory training to teach you how to properly insert and remove your contact lenses if it’s your first time wearing them.
