FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept most major vision insurance plans through VSP, EyeMed, Spectera, Davis Vision and Superior. If you are unsure what vision insurance you have or to check if we are a provider, feel free to give the office a call or shoot us an email and we can check on your benefits prior to booking an exam.

Why do I need a yearly eye exam?

Symptoms of health conditions often do not appear until the damage has already occurred. Eye exams are a great way to keep tabs on what's happening in your body. Your eyes are the only place in your body that provide a clear view of your blood vessels, arteries, and a cranial nerve which can tell your doctor a lot about your overall health. During your exam, your eye doctor will look for eye muscle imbalance, vision disorders, and eye disease that could potentially cause future problems. As well as checking to see if you need glasses and updating your prescription.

How long is an exam?

Prepare to be in our office for about an hour for a comprehensive yearly eye exam. To speed up your visit, you may want to considering opting in for retina photos, or OPTOS, instead of traditional dilation. It saves about 15 minutes and requires no down time after. Additional time may be need for contact lens insertion & removal training as well as the selection of a frame.

What is the difference between a medical visit and an eye exam?

An emergency visit, or one focused on a specific eye problem, would be considered a medical visit. Some examples of a medical visit are: eye infection, floaters, eyelids sties, dry eyes, glaucoma treatment, loss of vision caused by a medical condition of the eye, etc. An eye exam is the yearly visual check of your eyes.
